The SIP2 protocol is used to facilitate communication between ONARKEN and your LMS. Each Smart Locker installation requires its own SIP2 connection details. While these details can often be similar across installations, variations may exist, particularly for location-specific settings. Consult your LMS management team to confirm the following details:
-
LMS Provider & Version Number
Specify the LMS provider and version to ensure compatibility. -
SIP2 IP Address / Host Name
Provide the IP address or hostname for SIP2 communication. -
Port Number
The port used for SIP2 access. -
Login (if required)
A login credential, if necessary, for SIP2 authentication. -
Password (if required)
A password associated with the SIP2 login. -
Location Code (if required)
A location-specific identifier, often necessary for multi-site configurations. -
Institution ID (if required)
An institutional identifier, typically used for larger LMS networks.
Item Records
To enable successful check-ins and check-outs of assets through the LMS, each asset must have a corresponding item record. The following setup is required:
-
Unique Identifier or Barcode:
Each asset must have an individual item record with a unique identifier or barcode in the LMS. This identifier is essential for querying the item and performing loan actions. -
Circulation Status:
- The item's circulation status must be set to Available before it can be loaned.
- Once the item is returned after a loan, the circulation status must return to Available, ensuring it does not default to "awaiting reshelving" or similar statuses.
-
Locker Bay Association:
Each item record should be linked to a specific locker bay, enabling accurate management of the asset's location.
