Swap, Loan Extensions & Power Saving

We are pleased to introduce a new feature that enables users to arrange a swap of assets within our Drop Off & Collection lockers. This enhanced swap functionality allows users to seamlessly collect one asset and deposit another into the same locker bay during a single transaction.

The process is designed to be quick and efficient: users simply choose a locker containing the asset to be collected and then enter the details of the asset being dropped off. This streamlined procedure not only saves time but also ensures a smoother and more convenient experience for all users.

Loan Extensions

We are delighted to announce a new feature within the ONARKEN® Cloud Management Platform that allows administrators to extend a user's loan due date with ease. This functionality ensures flexibility and convenience for both users and administrators, accommodating changing needs and schedules.

Additionally, the platform maintains a comprehensive history of all loan extensions, which is displayed as comments against the respective loan. This detailed record-keeping provides transparency and allows for easy tracking of loan modifications over time.

This functionality is not supported when connecting to a Library Management System (LMS) as the LMS controls the loan periods.

For the lockers to recognise the date change, the software on the locker must be updated to version 1.8.

Loaning Hours

We are pleased to introduce improvements to the locker Loaning Hours feature, providing greater flexibility and control over locker availability. Administrators can now set multiple opening hour ranges per day, accommodating varying schedules and peak usage times.

Additionally, the new functionality allows for the inclusion of exception periods, enabling the specification of holiday periods and other special dates. For example, you can set exceptions for bank holidays, term closing dates, or to open/close early for special events or circumstances. This ensures that the locker system can be accurately managed to reflect operational changes and special situations.

For loaning hour exceptions your locker software must be updated to v1.8, please contact LapSafe® Support to upgrade.

We are excited to announce that LapSafe® Power Saving data will now be recorded within the ONARKEN® Cloud Management Platform. The platform will display a detailed report of estimated power saving statistics, providing valuable insights into energy conservation efforts.

This feature works by tracking the duration that individual locker bays are in power saving mode and calculating the estimated energy savings achieved. Using these calculations of saved kilowatt-hours (kWh), ONARKEN® can estimate the corresponding carbon and monetary savings based on UK average data*.

This new reporting capability enables organisations to monitor their energy efficiency efforts effectively and quantify the positive environmental and financial impacts of utilising power saving modes.

Standby Mode

Based on the configured Loaning Hours, the LapSafe® Smart Charging bays will now enter a forced power saving mode outside of these specified hours. This integration ensures that the charging bays conserve energy when not in use, further enhancing overall energy efficiency.

To optimise performance, the lockers will enter a forced standby mode one hour after closing time and two hours before opening time. This schedule ensures that all laptops are fully charged and ready for use at the beginning of the next operational period, providing users with reliable and efficient access to charged devices.
