    Health & Safety:

Read the section on Health & Safety

    Getting Started

There are ventilation holes through the base and on the top of the ChargeLite™ Wall unit, and care must be taken that none of these holes are obstructed. The front left door of your ChargeLite™ is unlocked using
the key with the white key cover, the right door has a separate key with a black key cover, or gain entry with your PIN or MIFARE® card. (Optional left-hand door only). The front left door is for everyday working access to the cabinet. The key can be removed once the door is open, this will prevent the door from closing fully whilst it is unlocked. The right-hand door should, not be considered as day-to-day access to the cabinet but used for initial setup by a responsible/authorised person.

    Charge Only Set Up

Please ensure the cabinet is unplugged when you are loading AC adaptors in the ChargeLite™.

    1. Open both front doors.
    2. You will find power strips for your AC adaptors in the right side compartment.

Figure 3: ChargeLite™ Wall with right-side service area door open

Some AC adaptors can be described as ‘in-plug’ where they plug directly into a socket and the charging lead goes directly to the device, and others can be described as ‘in-line’ where they have a mains lead between the power socket and the AC adaptor and then a charging lead going to the device.

      Figure 4: In-plug AC Adapter
      Figure 5: In-line AC Adapter
    3. For ‘in-plug’ AC adaptors simply feed the charging lead behind the divider onto a shelf.
    4. If you are using ‘in-line’ AC adaptors you have the choice to feed the mains lead behind the divider and place the adaptor on the shelf with your devices or to leave the AC adaptor in the right side compartment and just feed the charging lead behind the divider onto the shelf.
      • We provide cable ties to help with cable management and we recommend that the charging lead is secured to the shelf in a suitable position in order to prevent it being pushed off the shelf. Repeat these steps until your wall unit is fully loaded.
      • NOTE: Maximum loading 100Watt (rated capacity) per socket. (400Watts (rated capacity) per power strip).

As standard, Type G UK power sockets are installed, but there is a manufacturing option to have Type C/Type F Schuko Euro power sockets.

    Power Management Cassette

The power management cassette in the top of your ChargeLite™ Wall locker may get warm when it is handling a significant electrical load for a period of time and this, in turn, may make the top of the locker feel warm to the touch.
This is completely normal and will cool down when the power demand reduces.

    Thermal Trip

In the United Kingdom the detachable mains lead carries a fuse for the protection of users.
In the event that your ChargeLite™ Wall unit has been installed with no wall plug the power management cassette also has a resettable thermal trip. This trip acts in much the same way as a fuse to protect users and it can be re-set. The thermal trip is mounted on the back edge of the power management cassette in the top of the side compartment.
When the trip has operated there will be no power to the sockets and the centre button of the trip will be extend by approximately 12mm.

In the event of a trip:

    1. First switch off the power supply and then check if the reason for the tripping is apparent and If possible correct the issue.
    2. Allow at least 60 seconds after it has tripped and do not reset the trip with the mains power switched on.
    3. Press the centre of the button back into the trip. When re-set the button will stay pressed in when you release your finger.
    4. Restore power to the power cassette and check that the trip remains set.
    5. If the trip operates again you should first switch off the mains and then switch off or unplug everything in the locker sockets.
    6. Re-set the trip (items 2 and 3 above)
    7. Restore power to the power cassette and check that the trip remains set.
    8. Then, one by one, re-plug everything into the locker sockets, switch on and check that the trip remains set.
If the trip will not re-set or it continues to trip, there may still be a fault somewhere or the trip may have developed a fault. Please contact Support on 01787 226 166 or support@lapsafe.com

    Timer

ChargeLite Wall lockers now have a plug in timer included as standard. This allows you to set active usage periods for the locker, and not use excess power when not in use. You can locate this on the top AC adapter block. Please remove this, plug the timer into the wall and then plug the locker charging lead into the timer.

View the timer user manual here

On initial delivery of your wall locker the LCD display on the timer may not be illuminated. This is because the timer needs time to charge before use. It is recommended to charge the timer for 14 hours after the initial installation to charge the memory back-up battery.

Note: On older models, the timer was offered as an additional option.

On older ChargeLite™ lockers, the timer can be found located behind an oval plate on the rear of the unit.

    Cleaning

    DO:

    • Your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 has a powder coat finish which is very durable and can be wiped clean using a mildly soapy cloth.
    • To remove more stubborn marks or perhaps an adhesive residue you can use a gentle solvent such as white spirit or a mild solvent-based cleaner.

    DO NOT:

    • Do not soak any areas of the locker
    • Do not get the power cassette or the locker sockets wet
    • Do not soak any area with solvent
    • Do not use solvent cleaners on the locks

Disconnecting your Unit from the Mains Supply

Your ChargeLite™ unit is connected to the mains supply via a mains lead. There is an IEC connector at one end (plugs into the unit), and a 13amp mains plug at the other (plugs into the wall mains outlet).

Before carrying out any cleaning, or accessing the service area, disconnect the mains power.

    13 amp Mains Plug (Switched)

Switch OFF the outlet and remove the plug from the socket. If access to the service area is required, you can only gain access by removing the IEC plug to ensure the unit is not plugged in.

    Cleaning of fans

Depending on the model, your ChargeLite™ unit may have thermostatically controlled fan(s) in the rear panel. Under normal operating temperatures, the fan is off. The fan will come on when the unit exceeds a pre-set temperature and continue to run until the temperature lowers below its lower set point. If the temperature rises, the unit will shut down automatically and sound an audible alarm.
Over time, dust and debris can partially block the fan and ventilation holes, preventing maximum airflow and causing the unit not to cool as expected.

Therefore, it is recommended that the fan blades and ventilation holes be checked and cleaned at least once every three months or if you suspect an increase in normal running temperature or if the unit shuts down.

To clean the fan and ventilation holes, carefully agitate the dust with a suitable dry brush and extract the loose particles with a vacuum cleaner. Additionally, the ventilation holes can be wiped with a "damp" (not wet) cloth. Do not use a damp (or wet) cloth on the fan housing, as the primary charging electrics are behind.

Please review the following safety information:
At no time is the service door of the wall unit be opened by anyone other than an authorised person.
At no time should anyone attempt to physically lift the unit, as this could cause injury to the persons concerned and even cause damage to the locker, which will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty. Overview

    Introduction

This guide will take you through the steps to install your LapSafe® ChargeLite™ Desk.

    Getting started

There are ventilation holes through the sides of the ChargeLite™ Desk, and care must be taken that none of these holes are obstructed.

The front doors of your ChargeLite™ Desk are unlocked using the key with the white key cover, and the rear panel can be removed by removing the 10 screws around the edge of the panel (See the Installation Section for more details).

The front doors are for everyday working access to the cabinet. The key can be removed once the door is open, this will prevent the door from closing fully whilst it is unlocked.

The rear panel should not be considered as day-to-day access to the cabinet but used for initial setup by a responsible/authorised person.

    Charge Only Set Up

Please ensure the cabinet is unplugged when you are loading AC adaptors in the ChargeLite™.

    1. Open both front doors and remove rear panel (See install guide)

    3. Some AC adaptors can be described as ‘in-plug’ where they plug directly into a socket and the charging lead goes directly to the device, and others can be described as ‘in-line’ where they have a mains lead between the power socket and the AC adaptor and then a charging lead going to the device.
    Figure 5: In-plug AC Adapter
    Figure 6: In-line AC Adapter
    1. For ‘in-plug’ AC adaptors simply pass the charging lead onto a shelf.
    2. If you are using ‘in-line’ AC adaptors you have the choice to pass the mains onto the shelf and place the adaptor on the shelf with your devices or to leave the AC adaptor in the rear compartment and just pass the charging lead onto the shelf.

We provide both cable ties and cable clips to help with cable management and we recommend that the charging lead is secured to the shelf in a suitable position in order to prevent it being pushed off the shelf.
Repeat these steps until your desk unit is fully loaded.

NOTE: Maximum loading 100Watt (rated capacity) per socket. (400Watts (rated capacity) per power strip).

As standard, Type G UK power sockets are installed, but there is a manufacturing option to have Type C/Type F Schuko Euro power sockets.

    Health & Safety:

    Overview

Your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 is supplied fully assembled, tested and ready for installation.
Each ChargeLite™ Locker 32 has a camlock keyed lock on the front door as standard and two additional, ‘keyed alike’ locks for access to the side compartment the lower front compartment.

We publish separate instructions for the use of the locks fitted on your particular ChargeLite™ Locker 32.
The side compartment contains the power sockets for your AC adapters (AC models), or power banks (USB-C models). As standard, Type G UK power sockets are installed, but there is a manufacturing option to have Type C/Type F Schuko Euro power sockets.
The power to the sockets is controlled through a Power Management Cassette that is fixed in the top of the side compartment of your ChargeLite™ Locker 32.

    ChargeLite Locker power cassette diagram
Figure 3: ChargeLite™ Locker power cassette

Your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 is supplied with a 2 metre mains lead.

    Installation

The ChargeLite™ Locker 32 is floor standing and because of its weight it must be secured to a wall to prevent any risk of it toppling forwards. An adjustable, anti-topple bracket is integrated into the top of the locker and can be adjusted to reach across a gap of up to 75mm to the wall.

Always use suitable fixings for the construction of the wall.

For set-up, and to a lesser degree when in use, access will be required to the right-side compartment and both the mains power connection and the extractor fan (if fitted) are on this side so we recommend a gap of at least 150mm is left between the locker and the next item of furniture or wall.

WARNING: Because surfaces vary widely and the fitting location and method of fixing is out of LapSafe®’s control, it is imperative that you consult with appropriate engineering, architectural, or construction professional to ensure that your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 is affixed properly and that the substrate is suitable to handle applied loads.

    Front Door Operation

Once the door lock is released the hinge allows the locker door to swing through approximately 150 degrees until it meets the side of the locker.

    • Do not let go of the door while it is moving.
    • Do not force the door in either direction.

Both of these actions could damage the door or the locker carcase.

    Power Sockets

The locker power sockets are housed in the side compartment and they are designed to provide power for small loads up to a maximum of 90 watts per socket (nominal rating of the AC adapter).

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD A HEAVY LOAD BE PLUGGED INTO A SOCKET.

    Power Management Cassette

The power management cassette in the top of your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 may get warm when it is handling a significant electrical load for a period of time and this, in turn, may make the top of the locker feel warm to the touch.
This is completely normal and will cool down when the power demand reduces.

    Thermal Trip

In the United Kingdom the detachable mains lead carries a fuse for the protection of users.
In the event that your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 has been installed with no wall plug the power management cassette also has a resettable thermal trip.

If the trip will not reset or it continues to trip, there may still be a fault somewhere or the trip may have developed a fault. Please contact Support on 0800 130 3456 or support@lapsafe.com

    Charge Only Set Up

Please ensure the cabinet is unplugged when you are loading AC adaptors in the ChargeLite™

First remove the side compartment door.

    • Unlock and remove the right side compartment door
    • Tilt the top of the door outwards.
    • There is an earth strap onto the top of the door which will need to be disconnected by pulling the connector off the tab. (This connection must be reinstated when the door is replaced).
    • Then gently lift the door out of its slots in the base of the locker and place it to one side.

Now the sockets and AC adapter storage shelves can be accessed.

    • ‘In-plug’ AC adapters can be plugged directly into the sockets and the changing lead passed through the grommeted holes at the front of the locker.
    • ‘In-line’ AC adapters can be loaded onto the shelves and secured behind the elastic strap before passing the charging leads through the grommeted holes and plugging the power leads into the sockets.

      • There is a charge status indicator bar with a series of LED lights located above the left door of the ChargeLite. The LED's on this bar should turn on and display the following:
        • The LED is turned off when no device is plugged in/charging
        • The LED is red when the device is charging
        • The LED is Green when the device is fully charged or near full charge.
      • The USB-C charging cables also have LEDs at the ends of the USB-C connectors
        • The LED on the USB-C charge cable is red when the device is charging
        • The LED on the charge cable is blue when the device is fully charged, or near fully charged

    Positioning the Charging Leads

This step applies for both AC adapter charging and USB-C charging models.

Open the front door of the locker and consider where the charging lead needs to be positioned based on the device that is to be stored/charged.

On the front right corner of each shelf there is a cable management slot that will hold the charging lead at the correct length to reach the charging port of the device. Make a small loop in the charging lead and pass it onto the slot. (The lead can be installed in the slot on the same shelf as its device or in the shelf above – whichever works best for your devices)

Feed any excess lead back through the grommet into the side compartment.

Follow this process for both AC adapter charging and USB-C charging models.

    Network Connectivity Option

Below the front door there is a key controlled compartment that is ready to house a network switch or switches (Netgear JSG524 or similar).

Power for the network switch(es) can be fed down from the socket compartment into this compartment through the 30mm hole at the rear.

The network leads can pass up into the side compartment through the rectangular cut-out at the front of the locker.

An up-link lead can be passed through the hole at the right, rear of the locker, just above the power connection socket.

Adjust the length of the network leads onto each storage shelf and use the stud fixings beneath the fan cut-outs on the side of the locker to secure them in position.

    Timer

ChargeLite Lockers now have a plug in timer included as standard. This allows you to set active usage periods for the trolley, and not use excess power when not in use. You can locate this on the top AC adapter block. Please remove this, plug the timer into the wall and then plug the trolley charging lead into the timer.

View the timer user manual here

On initial delivery of your laptop locker, the LCD display on the timer may not be illuminated. This is because the timer needs time to charge before use. It is recommended to charge the timer for 14 hours after the initial installation to charge the memory back-up battery.

Note: On older models, the timer was offered as an additional option.

    Modifications

DO NOT MAKE ANY MODIFICATIONS TO THE WIRING OF YOUR CLASSBUDDY™ LOCKER 32

The power management cassette protects both users and devices against potentially harmful in-rush currents at start up, residual currents after power down and over current when in use.
Any modification to the power management system will negate your warranty and could make your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 dangerous to use.

    ChargeLite™ Options

    Network Connectivity

    Warranty, Care and Maintenance

    Warranty

The ChargeLite™ range comes with Lifetime Parts & Labour Warranty. Full details of our warranty are on our website: lapsafe.com/warranty

Your warranty must be activated. To activate your warranty visit our website: www.lapsafe.com/activate

    Care & Maintenance

    Do:

    • Lock your ChargeLite™ Locker 32 when not in use, keep your keys in a safe place and not in the same room as the locker
    • Read the Health and Safety guidelines in the user guide and share this information with all users
    • Activate your warranty at lapsafe.com/activate-warranty
    • Unplug charging leads before removing devices from the locker

    Do not:

    • Do not leave keys in the doors
    • Do not remove doors
    • Do not modify the ChargeLite™ Locker 32 in anyway without contacting LapSafe® first

    Cleaning

Before carrying out any cleaning, accessing the service area, or moving a mobile unit from one location to the next, disconnect the mains power.

    Health and Safety

The ChargeLite™ Range manufactured by LapSafe® have been thoroughly tested and certified by an authorised and INDEPENDENT notified testing house before sale.
Full CE and UKCA compliance, which includes the requirements of LVD and EMC directives, is a STANDARD FEATURE of any solution manufactured by LapSafe®, as are many more built in safety features.
CE and UKCA Marking can be found on the product serial number plate, usually at the lower rear of the cabinet.

A CE and UKCA Declaration of Conformity Certificate is issued and can be found at the foot of this document.

Please review the following safety information:
At no time are the service areas of the ChargeLite™ Locker to be opened by anyone other than an authorised person.

At no time should anyone attempt to physically lift the locker, as this could cause injury to the persons concerned and even damage to the locker, which will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty. Should the movement of the locker require this type of action, you are advised to seek advice from the authorised person. In such circumstances, the matter should be referred to LapSafe® for consultation and advice.

The information above is not exhaustive. Contact LapSafe® should you have any concerns.

WARNING: Hand and power tools can be dangerous when used incorrectly and the user should be trained to use work equipment and have an understanding of the HSE leaflet, ‘using work equipment safely’ (INDG229)

Please also refer to the manufacturers documentation for specific information about the equipment you are using.

    Health & Safety:

    Overview

Your ChargeLite™ Trolley is supplied fully assembled, tested and ready for installation.

The power to the sockets is controlled through a Power Management Cassette that is fixed in the top rear, above the service compartment of the ChargeLite™ Trolley. The service compartment conatins the power sockets for your AC adapters (AC models), or power banks (USB-C models). As standard, Type G UK power sockets are installed, but there is a manufacturing option to have Type C/Type F Schuko Euro power sockets.

Your ChargeLite™ Trolley is supplied with a 2 metre mains lead.

    Getting Started

There are ventilation holes through the base and on the rear of the cabinet, and care must be taken that none of these holes are obstructed. Select a location where there is sufficient airspace for the cabinet to ventilate. Your ChargeLite™ should not be left within a cupboard or small closed space when charging, because the recirculation of its own warm air could lead to unnecessarily high temperatures for periods of time.

With your ChargeLite™ in its working position, the mains lead can be fitted into the mains socket at the rear of the right side of the cabinet and taken to an available wall socket to be plugged in and switched on.

The front doors of your ChargeLite™  are unlocked using the key with the white key cover, and the rear door has a separate key with a black key cover.

The front doors are for everyday working access to the cabinet. The key can be removed once the door is open, this will prevent the door from closing fully whilst it is unlocked.

The rear door should not be considered as day-to-day access to the cabinet, once opened you will see a safety earth lead with a push-on fixing on the rear door which must be disconnected before the door can be fully removed. Once the connector has been pulled apart, the door can be lifted out of the slots along the bottom edge and placed to one side. For your safety, please ensure that you reconnect the earth lead when replacing the rear door.

Please note: to remove the rear door you must remove the power lead. Please make sure you do not plug in the power lead with the rear access door removed or open.

    Charge Only Set Up

Please ensure the cabinet is unplugged when you are loading AC adaptors in the ChargeLite™
    1. Remove the rear door as described in Getting Started.
    2. You will find power strips for your AC adaptors in the back; plug your AC adaptor into a plug socket and load the AC adaptor block onto the relevant shelf.

Figure 5: AC ChargeLite Trolley with rear door removed
    3. Some AC adaptors can be described as ‘in-plug’ where they plug directly into a socket and the charging lead goes directly to the device, and others can be described as ‘in-line’ where they have a mains lead between the power socket and the AC adaptor and then a charging lead going to the device.
      • For ‘in-plug’ AC adaptors simply pass the charging lead onto a shelf.

        Figure 6: In-plug AC Adapter
        Figure 7: In-line AC Adapter
      • If you are using ‘in-line’ AC adaptors you have the choice to pass the mains onto the shelf and place the adaptor on the shelf with your devices or to leave the AC adaptor in the rear compartment and just pass the charging lead onto the shelf.
    4. We provide both cable ties and cable clips to help with cable management and we recommend that the charging lead is secured to the shelf in a suitable position in order to prevent it ‘working’ its way off the shelf.

    USB-C Smart Charging

Please ensure the cabinet is unplugged when you are connecting USB-C charging leads in the ChargeLite™

    1. Remove the rear door as described in Getting Started
    2. You will find the USB-C power bank(s) installed vertically in the back (If you have a ChargeLite™ 32, there are two USB-C power banks installed in a layered position.

Figure 9: Figure 5: USB-C ChargeLite Trolley with rear door removed showing power bank
    3. There will be USB-C to USB-C charging leads provided in boxes inside the rear service area of the unit. Remove the cables from the packaging.

    6. Plug the straight USB-C connectors into the the power banks, leaving the right angled connectors available to connect the devices too.

      • Be careful to plug in the charging leads in order starting from the top. The ports on the power bank are numbered and correspond with the charge status displays on the front of the unit.
      • If your trolley has two power banks installed, start with the innermost power bank. This will have ports for bays 1-16. The outermost power bank has ports for bays 17-32

Figure 13: Plugging charging leads into the power bank
    7. Thread the cables through the mounting bracket onto the shelves. Then thread them through the white clips you placed previously
      • These clips hold the cables in place and stop the leads from being pushed off the shelf.

Figure 14: Threading the charging leads through the cable clips
    8. Plug the devices in. Check that the LED display turns on when the device is plugged in.
      • There is a charge status indicator bar with a series of LED lights located above the door(s) of the ChargeLite™.
        • The LED on the charge cable is blue when the device is fully charged

    Power Management Cassette

The power management cassette in the top of your ChargeLite™ Trolley may get warm when it is handling a significant electrical load for a period of time and this, in turn, may make the top of the locker feel warm to the touch.
This is completely normal and will cool down when the power demand reduces.

    Thermal Trip

In the United Kingdom the detachable mains lead carries a fuse for the protection of users.
In the event that your ChargeLite™ Trolley has been installed with no wall plug the power management cassette also has a resettable thermal trip.

Please contact Support on 0800 130 3456 or support@lapsafe.com

    Moving Your trolley

Your ChargeLite™ trolley should always be moved with care and should only be moved by two competent adults or authorised persons.

    Before Moving The Trolley:

The following checks and actions should be carried out, irrespective of the distance travelled:

    • Check that the power has been turned off at the wall socket.
    • Carefully disconnect the mains power lead from the back of the trolley and from the wall socket placing the power lead in the cable tidy located on the rear door of the trolley.
    • Check that any network cable (Cat5) has been disconnected from the back of the trolley.
    • Ensure that all of the trolley doors are securely closed and locked, and that all keys have been removed.
    • Disengage wheel brakes using the foot operated pedals before moving the trolley.
    • Special care should be taken on inclines.

    At the new location:

    • Ensure that all wheel brakes are applied using foot operated pedals
    • Never position the trolley in front of any fire exit or fire escape routes
    • Never position the trolley in the view of any windows for security

    Timer

ChargeLite Trolleys now have a plug in timer included as standard. This allows you to set active usage periods for the trolley, and not use excess power when not in use. You can locate this on the top AC adapter block. Please remove this, plug the timer into the wall and then plug the trolley charging lead into the timer.

View the timer user manual here

On initial delivery of your laptop trolley, the LCD display on the timer may not be illuminated. This is because the timer needs time to charge before use. It is recommended to charge the timer for 14 hours after the initial installation to charge the memory back-up battery.

Note: On older models, the timer was offered as an additional option.

On older ChargeLite™ trolleys, the timer can be found located behind an oval plate on the rear of the unit.

    • Read the Health and Safety guidelines in the user guide and share this information with all users
    • Activate your warranty
    • Unplug charging leads before taking laptops out of the trolley

    DO NOT:

    • Do not move the trolley without disconnecting the mains power

    • Do not leave keys in the doors locks when moving the trolley
    • Do not remove doors
    • Do not leave trolleys in the view of a window for security
    • Do not try to modify the trolley in anyway without contacting LapSafe® first to check that it is safe to do so. If you have any queries, please contact us through any means below in the Useful Links section.

    Cleaning

    DO:

    • Your ChargeLite™ Trolley has a powder coat finish which is very durable and can be wiped clean using a mildly soapy cloth.
    • To remove more stubborn marks or perhaps an adhesive residue you can use a gentle solvent such as white spirit or a mild solvent-based cleaner.

    DO NOT:

    • Do not soak any areas of the trolley
    • Do not get the power cassette or the trolley sockets wet
    • Do not soak any area with solvent
    • Do not use solvent cleaners on the locks

Disconnecting your Unit from the Mains Supply

Your ChargeLite™ unit is connected to the mains supply via a mains lead. There is an IEC connector at one end (plugs into the unit), and a 13amp mains plug at the other (plugs into the wall mains outlet).

Before carrying out any cleaning, accessing the service area, or moving a mobile unit from one location to the next, disconnect the mains power.

Please be advised of the following safety advice:
At no time is the rear service door of the trolley to be opened by anyone other than an authorised person.

At no time should anyone attempt to physically lift the trolley, as this could cause injury to the persons concerned and even damage to the trolley, which will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty. Should the movement of the trolley require this type of action, you are advised to seek advice from the authorised person. In such circumstances, the matter should be referred to LapSafe® for consultation and advice.
    • Always apply the wheel brakes when the trolley is either parked or not in use.
    • Disconnect the mains supply and stow the mains cable into either the cable management provided or on top of the unit before moving.
    • Always ensure that the main power lead does not present a trip hazard when connected to the mains.
    • Always ensure that the main power lead is fully extended when connected to the mains.
    • The trolley should only be moved on horizontal surfaces.
    • Always ensure that the trolley NEVER impedes full and free pedestrian access to all fire routes, fire exits and normal access routes.
    • NEVER allow unauthorised access to the service doors at the rear of the unit.

The information above is not exhaustive. Contact LapSafe® should you have any concerns.
