Get Started With Your ChargeLite™ Wall
NOTE: There are ventilation holes through the base and the top of the ChargeLite™ Wall unit, care must be taken that none of these holes are obstructed.
Doors & Locking
The left door is unlocked using the key with the white key cover. The left door is for every day access to the ChargeLite™ Wall unit. The key can be removed once the door is open and this will prevent the door from closing fully whilst it is unlocked.
The right door has a separate key with a black key cover. The right door is not for day-to-day use and should only be accessed by an authorised person for set up.
For PIN or MIFARE® card access please refer to the relevant user guide.
Charging Set Up
Please ensure the cabinet is unplugged when you are loading AC Adaptors in the ChargeLite™ Wall.
- Open both front doors.
- Power strips for your AC adaptors are in the right side compartment. (figure 3)
There are two styles of AC adaptor:
- In-Plug AC Adaptor - where they plug directly into a socket and the charging lead goes directly to the device (figure 4).
- In-Line AC Adaptor - where they have a mains lead between the power socket and the AC adaptor and then a charging lead going to the device. (figure 5)
‘In-Plug AC Adaptors' can be san be plugged directly into the sockets and the changing lead passed from the right side compartment, behind the divider, and onto a shelf.
‘In-Line AC Adaptors' can be plugged in and the adaptor secured in the right side compartment in the placed on the shelf with your devices or secured in the right side compartment and only pass the charging lead behind the divider onto the shelf.
- NOTE: Maximum loading 100Watt (rated capacity) per socket. (400Watts (rated capacity) per power strip).
As standard, Type G UK power sockets are installed, but there is a manufacturing option to have Type C/Type F Schuko Euro power sockets.
Positioning the Charging Leads in the Bays
This step applies for both AC Adapter Charging and USB-C Charging models.
Open the front door consider where the charging lead needs to be positioned on the shelf based on the device that is to be stored and charged.
Cable Clips
Unpack the white cable clips (figure 6). These clips hold the cables in place and stop the leads from being pushed off the shelf.
A range of positions are available at either side of the locker bays.
Install the white cable clips into the bays by pushing them into the holes provided at the front of the shelves. (figure 7)
Use the cable clips to secure the charging leads (figure 8)
Power Management Cassette
The power management cassette in the top of your ChargeLite™ Wall may get warm when it is handling a significant electrical load for a period of time and this, in turn, may make the top of the locker feel warm to the touch. This is completely normal and will cool down when the power demand reduces.
Thermal Trip
In the United Kingdom the detachable mains lead carries a fuse for the protection of users.
In the event that your ChargeLite™ Wall unit has been installed with no wall plug, the power management cassette also has a resettable thermal trip. This trip acts in much the same way as a fuse, to protect users and once tripped it can be re-set.
The thermal trip is mounted on the back edge of the power management cassette in the top of the side compartment. When the trip has operated there will be no power to the sockets and the centre button of the trip will be extend by approximately 12mm.
In the event of a trip:
- First - Switch off the power supply.
- Check if the reason for the tripping is apparent. If possible correct the issue.
- Do NOT reset the trip with the mains power switched on.
- Allow 60 seconds after it has tripped before switching the mains power on.
- Re-set the trip - Press the centre of the button back into the trip. When re-set the button will stay pressed in when you release your finger.
- Restore power to the power and check that the trip remains set.
- If the trip operates again you should first switch off the mains and then switch off and unplug everything in the locker sockets.
- Re-set the trip (as above)
- Restore power to the power and check that the trip remains set.
- Then, one by one, re-plug everything into the locker sockets, switch on and check that the trip remains set.
If the trip will not re-set or it continues to trip, there may still be a fault somewhere or the trip may have developed a fault. Please contact Support on 01787 226 166 or support@lapsafe.com
Timer
View the timer user manual here
ChargeLite™ Wall lockers have a plug in timer included as standard. This allows you to set active usage periods and to prevent using excess power when needed.
You can locate the timer on the top AC Adapter block inside your unit.
Remove the timer, plug the timer into the wall and then plug the locker charging lead into the timer.
NOTE: The timer requires charging before initial use. When you first use the timer the LCD display may not be illuminated. It is recommended to charge the timer for 14 hours after the initial installation to charge the memory back-up battery.
Legacy Timer Model
On older models, the timer was offered as an additional option. This style of timer can be found located behind an oval plate on the rear of the unit.
You can view or download the manual for the legacy timer module here

Cleaning
Before carrying out any cleaning, or accessing the service area, disconnect the mains power.
Disconnecting the unit from the mains supply
Your ChargeLite™ unit is connected to the mains supply via a mains lead. There is an IEC connector at one end (plugs into the unit), and a 13amp mains plug at the other (plugs into the wall mains outlet).
13 amp Mains Plug (Switched)
Switch OFF the outlet and remove the plug from the socket. If access to the service area is required, you can only gain access by removing the IEC plug to ensure the unit is not plugged in.
DO:
- Your ChargeLite™ Wall has a powder coat finish which is very durable and can be wiped clean using a mildly soapy cloth.
- To remove more stubborn marks or perhaps an adhesive residue you can use a gentle solvent such as white spirit or a mild solvent-based cleaner.
DO NOT:
- Do not soak any areas of the locker
- Do not get the power cassette or the locker sockets wet
- Do not soak any area with solvent
- Do not use solvent cleaners on the locks
Cleaning The Fans & Ventilation Holes
Depending on the model, your ChargeLite™ unit may have thermostatically controlled fans. Under normal operating temperatures, the fan is off. The fan will come on when the unit exceeds a pre-set temperature and continue to run until the temperature lowers below its lower set point. If the temperature rises, the unit will shut down automatically and sound an audible alarm.
Over time, dust and debris can partially block the fan and ventilation holes, preventing maximum airflow and causing the unit not to cool as expected. It is recommended that the fan blades and ventilation holes be checked and cleaned at least once every three months or if you suspect an increase in normal running temperature or if the unit shuts down.
To clean the fan and ventilation holes, carefully agitate the dust with a suitable dry brush and extract the loose particles with a vacuum cleaner. Additionally, the ventilation holes can be wiped with a "damp" (not wet) cloth. Do not use a damp (or wet) cloth on the fan housing, as the primary charging electrics are behind.

Modifications
DO NOT MAKE ANY MODIFICATIONS TO THE WIRING OF YOUR CLASSBUDDY™
The power management cassette protects both users and devices against potentially harmful in-rush currents at start up, residual currents after power down and over current when in use.
Any modification to the power management system will negate your warranty and could make your ChargeLite™ dangerous to use.
